Position Summary
A knowledgeable, detail-oriented, and compassionate Pharmacy Manager / Pharmacist in Charge is needed to lead a compounding pharmacy operation in Abilene, TX. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe, effective, and compliant preparation of customized medications while maintaining high standards of quality and patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of the compounding pharmacy, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards and internal quality protocols.
- Serve as the Pharmacist in Charge, maintaining compliance with all applicable state and federal laws and regulations.
- Manage pharmacy staff, including pharmacists and technicians, fostering a collaborative and professional work environment.
- Ensure accurate compounding and dispensing of physician-prescribed medications tailored to individual patient needs.
- Maintain a high level of precision in formulations to meet strict quality standards and ensure effective treatment outcomes.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure prescriptions are filled accurately and efficiently.
- Monitor inventory levels, order supplies, and manage cost-effective sourcing of ingredients.
- Implement and uphold safety protocols and proper documentation for all compounding activities.
- Stay current with pharmacy law, USP <795>, <797>, and <800> standards, and other relevant compounding guidelines.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) or equivalent degree from an accredited institution.
- Current and valid Texas pharmacist license.
- Must meet state requirements to act as Pharmacist in Charge (PIC).
- 3+ years of experience in a compounding pharmacy, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or management role.
- Strong knowledge of USP <795>, <797>, and <800> compounding standards.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Strong commitment to patient safety and quality care.
