Overview

Presbyterian is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Specialty Pharmacy Clinical Pharmacist to join our team. The Pharmacist will interpret and evaluate medication orders. Prepares and dispenses medications. Advises healthcare providers and patients regarding optimal and cost-effective utilization of specialty medications.

Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Pharmacy
  • Current and unrestricted New Mexico Board of Pharmacy License required.
  • NM Pharmacist Vaccination Prescribing Authority Certification is required.
  • Doctor of Pharmacy preferred.
  • Preferably more than one year of experience in clinical residency or equivalent work experience.
  • Has acquired the necessary practice skills to appropriately evaluate medication orders. Skills acquired through experience or self-study
Responsibilities
  • Verification of medication orders for accuracy and appropriateness. Review of medication profiles. Assists in the resolution of drug therapy problems.
  • Use a systematic approach to address medication information needs by effectively searching, retrieving, and evaluating the literature and appropriately communicating and applying the information to the patient care situation.
  • Reviews, updates, and maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, QA program, clinical procedures, safety, and environmental and infection control standards.
  • Packages, labels, and dispenses medications according to policy
  • Maintains proper inventory control and storage of medications and supplies.
  • Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-services, industry conferences, and workshops.
  • Oversees the activities of technicians, interns, and students. Participates in training pharmacists, technicians, students, and residents.
  • Consults with and advises healthcare providers regarding optimal and cost-effective utilization of drugs. Where appropriate, documents clinical activities.
  • Provides clinical guidance for the Patient Management Program.
