Job Description
Directs, designs, and implements goals, objectives and policies to ensure efficient and effective Pharmacy operations. Directs staff, manages purchasing/inventory control and ensures departmental functions in accordance with regulatory and legal requirements. Will oversee the Cancer Institute Pharmacy programs, which encompass the following locations: Zuckerberg, Rego Park, Bayshore, MEETH Oncology, Greenlawn, Woodbury, and Riverhead.
Job Responsibility
- Leads a Pharmacy group by communicating with and developing staff members, and building consensus for programs and goals that support a business, function or geographic area.
- Develops and articulates a short-term strategic vision for areas of responsibility.
- Initiates and develops the strategic plans, policies and procedures, including oversight of operational performance, quality improvements and program initiatives, for pharmacy services; analyzes expenses and operations, negotiates and implements cost effective alternatives to promote quality improvements.
- Ensures programs meet established financial goals and objectives and enhances community awareness of the health system's service and develops an annual budget.
- Oversees the planning, organization and direction of pharmacy services in conjunction with business growth, program goals, capital requirements, space allocation, and technological equipment and information systems.
- Validates payroll data; oversees the development, implementation, and performance evaluation of operating policies and procedures consistent with government and agency regulations, and in collaboration with organization/Facility goals and objectives.
- Selects, develops, manages and evaluates direct reports and oversees the selection, development, management and evaluation of indirect reports; oversees quality assurance, promotes program development and ensures compliance with government and agency regulations.
- Ensures compliance with federal and state regulatory agencies, Joint Commission standards, site and department policy and accepted standards of professional practice; oversees the development, review and distribution of reports and procedural statements which ensure regulatory and policy compliance.
- Promotes the academic mission of the organization; promotes the role of resident education in pharmacy; collaborates with management and pharmaceutical manufacturers to develop programs that facilitate formulary compliance and medication adherence through all distribution channels.
- Determines appropriate medications or therapeutic classes to educate physicians, patients and pharmacists; ensures the on-going development of preferred medication lists, clinical offers and new drug research activities; oversees purchasing and inventory control to ensure adequate supplies of medication within product specifications and budget parameters.
- Monitors the coordination of department resources in support of clinical trials and research activities of the organization; develops relationships with outside consultants, industry associations, pharmacy schools and peer groups to ensure quality improvement process retains validity through the latest techniques and concepts.
- Keeps executive leadership and stakeholders well informed.

Preferred Skills:
- PharmD
- Board Certified in Oncology
- A minimum of five years of leadership experience in an ambulatory oncology practice setting.

Job Qualification
- Bachelor of Pharmacy required.
- Current License to practice as a Pharmacist in New York State required, plus specialized certifications as needed.
- 8-12 years of relevant experience and 7+ years of leadership / management experience, required.
