Pharmacologist Jobs
A Pharmacologist in the pharmacy industry is a specialized scientist who investigates how drugs interact with biological systems. They conduct research to understand how medications work, their effects, side effects, and interactions. They also develop and test new drugs and therapies using their understanding of Biology, Biochemistry, Physiology, and Molecular Biology. They work in laboratories and use various techniques and experiments to improve or develop drugs. Their research often plays a vital role in the development of new treatment methods and the improvement of human health.
A Pharmacologist should possess exceptional analytical skills, attention to detail, and technical skills necessary for conducting various laboratory experiments. They should ideally have a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) or a Ph.D. in Pharmacology. They should also have passed the North American Pharmacist Licensure Examination (NAPLEX) and be licensed to practice. Some roles that a person may hold before becoming a Pharmacologist include being a Pharmacy Technician, a Research Assistant in a laboratory, or a Pharmacist. These roles allow for practical experience and understanding of the pharmacy industry, which is crucial for a successful career as a pharmacologist.
